How can Dr. Khan help me?

Breast Enhancement

Dr. Khan performs augmentation or breast enlargement for the women with small underdeveloped breasts as well as the woman who requires breast rejuvenation following childbirth and weight loss.  The breast augmentation is performed with saline, silicone or cohesive gel implants depending upon the patient’s individual needs.  This surgery can be performed in conjunction with mastopexy or uplifting breast procedures if needed.  The procedure of mastopexy can be performed immediately following implant placement or may be done some time following the original breast augmentation.

Alone may be performed when there is adequate breast tissue and an implant is not required. Most Mastopexies are performed with breast implants.

Congenital Breast Asymmetry

Following development of the breasts during puberty, the patient may develop on one breast and not the other.  This results in bilateral asymmetrical breasts.  Mastopexy and augmentation are two procedures which may be performed to obtain symmetry for the patient.

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction surgery is performed to reduce the breasts to an appropriate size for the patient’s body contour and weight..  This surgery is performed with insurance assistance and non-insurance assistance.  The patient is examined and an appropriate gram weight removal is suggested by Dr. Khan.  This surgery may be performed with fewer incisions when the reduction is performed by liposuction.  Dr. Khan will evaluate and decide who is a candidate for liposuction reduction surgery.

The male breast that is overdeveloped either during development in puberty, or by excessive weight gain may be reduced either by a partial mastectomy, reduction or using liposuction.  This is an excellent procedure for the male who has a problem with excess breast tissues.

Revision Implant Surgery

Dr. Khan educates all his patients considering breast augmentation and reconstructive surgery that the implant is not a lifetime device.  He performs cohesive gel implants, silicone gel implants and saline implants and explains to the patient that the implant has a life span of 10 to 20 years.  Revision of the implants is inevitable at some point for all patients in the future.  Dr. Khan performs revision implant surgeries frequently and educates the patient on the latest techniques for revision of their implants.

Breast Restoration Following Mastectomy

Dr. Khan has developed state of the art breast reconstruction with conserving innovations in breast cancer treatment.  Reconstruction of the breasts with skin-preserving mastectomies, the art of breast cancer reconstruction in the past few years has been refined.   Immediate and delayed breast reconstruction using the patient’s own autogenous tissue (Tram flap) technique, as well as muscle flap transfer technique and implant or tissue expansion technique are procedures that Dr. Khan performs for the mastectomy reconstruction patient.

Body Contouring After Weight Loss

An important goal in the man and woman of today is obtaining their desired total body image.  The overall image of a person is highlighted in every day life in the exercise and fitness world as well as by the prominence of weight loss programs as seen on national television.  Body contouring and weight loss goals can be achieved through exercise and weight loss programs mediums, as well as through the service of a plastic surgeon.  Weight loss with lap band surgery and gastric bypass surgery is being performed frequently now.  Following these surgeries the patients almost always require some type of body contouring surgery.  These surgeries may include excision of excess skin from the abdomen, breasts, thighs buttocks and other areas where the skin has become ptotic or lax.  Each person will be evaluated for the total body reduction surgery regarding their required needs.

Abdominalplasty following childbirth or weight loss is a common procedure in which the abdominal skin is excised, thus creating a smaller flatter stomach.  Muscle repair or tightening of the abdominal muscle (diastasis recti) may be required.  Repositioning of the umbilicus (belly button) may or may not be required.  Each person is evaluated for their individual needs regarding this surgery.

The procedure of liposuction has come a long way in the advancement of total body makeovers.  This surgery was developed to remove excess body fat and now has become an enhancement surgery not only for the abdomen and lower body area, but the breasts as well.  Liposuction reduction has become a popular method of excess tissue removal from the breasts using a less invasive form of surgery.   Liposuction is an excellent enhancement surgery for the patient who has undergone weight loss or has a troublesome area where diet and exercise has not helped.   Liposuction in some cases may be used in facial cosmetic surgery enhancement as well.

Lipostructure is the re-injecting of fat (the patient’s own) back into an area or depression in the skin.  This may be used to enhance the buttocks or in other body areas such as the lips or face where there is a hallow area which might need enhancement.

Face Lift

More and more people are undergoing face rejuvenation surgery.  The need to look good in today’s society has opened the way for new innovative appearance techniques and skin care products.  It is a known fact that the sun worshipers of the 60’s and 70’s have changed into the educated society regarding the problems associated with overexposure to the sun.  Care of the skin is now important in slowing down the aging process of the skin.  Face lifting is important to the person who is trying to maintain their youthful appearance, as highlighted by the saying “look young, feel young”.  Dr. Khan feels that the face lift should be an enhancement to the patient’s appearance and not an appearance change.  The face lift procedure will remove excess skin that has lost its texture and firmness or has become flabby.  The skin should be removed without distortion of the patient’s other features.  A good face lift in Dr. Khan’s words is a soft, rested, subtle change in the patient’s appearance.

Brow Lift

In a few instances, patients require the lifting of the brow.  This procedure can be performed alone or in conjunction with the face lifting procedure.  Endoscopic type brow lift is most effective in lifting the upper part of the face and brow.  This procedure is performed with a scope and has alleviated the need for excision and suturing in the scalp.

Blepharoplasties or Eyelid Surgeries

Eyelid surgery is one of the most popular face rejuvenation procedures performed.  The eyes tend to be one of the first things a person notices about another person.  Eyelid surgery removes more years from the patient’s appearance/age than any other facial procedure performed.   The upper eyelids surgery is performed with removal of excess skin and the lower eyelids may require removal of fat as well as skin removal. This takes away the puffy look that one gets around the eyes both in the upper and lower eyelid areas.  Some eyelid surgeries on older patients may be performed using insurance if there is a vision problem associated with hooding of the upper eyelids.

Botox and Restylane Injections

Some of the younger patients with a few troublesome areas on the face benefit from injections of Botox or Restylane to fill in lines in the face.  These injections can typically last anywhere from 3 to 6 months, and in some instances, up to a year following treatment.  This is an excellent approach to the patient who is not ready for the full face lift.  These injections will give a more youthful appearance to the skin and may also be used in conjunction with the face lift as further enhancement.

Skin Care Products

Dr. Khan is an advocate of the skin care products used to promote skin cell regeneration.  These products contain glycolic, niacin and retinoic acids.  These products, when used daily, will restore the overall appearance as well as texture and laxity to the tissues, thus reversing and/or maintaining the aging process of the skin.  After face lifting procedures, Dr. Khan will put his patients on a regiment of skin care products to complete the overall makeover and care of the patient’s total face rejuvenation.

Skin Cancer Treatment

Due to the years of sun worshiping, many of today’s population will at some point have to consult a skin care specialist for skin growths, early skin cancers or possibly even advanced skin cancers.  The skin care products Dr. Khan promotes will aid in halting the further advancement of these skin changes.  But in some cases, surgery to remove these areas is required.  Following treatment or removal of these cancerous or non-cancerous growths, the patient will be instructed in future skin care maintenance.

Men and women today are making choices regarding their overall aging process.  The exercise, diet aids and cosmetic surgery available to the population is their testament to slowing down the aging process.  Men and women are more active today than in previous generations.  They are in the work force longer and are constantly seeking the newest and latest advancements to keep them in the main groove of society.  Dr.  Khan’s full body make over is the ideal program for today’s man and woman who is living longer and looking better.
